Adoption and Community Source governance
Introduce OGO through bounded practice, verified access, review ownership, release discipline, and measurable outcomes.
Explore before requesting source
Use the free hosted Studio, public documentation, sample guides, and example dossiers to understand the product before requesting complete source. No account is required for public exploration.
Apply for the correct access category
Individuals, organizations, researchers, educators, contributors, and commercial partners have different rights and review requirements. A submitted form does not grant source or repository access.
Start with a bounded pilot
After approved access, choose a small set of repeatable incidents and a cross-functional group already covered by the agreement. Run tabletop scenarios before operational use. Measure whether teams reach a clearer boundary, reduce duplicate evidence requests, and produce stronger handoffs.
Define ownership
Assign maintainers for guide review, safety review, release approval, source-access administration, and publication updates. Define who can approve applicants, record agreements, issue invitations, merge guides, change protected contracts, and offboard users.
Version source and knowledge
Treat source, guide, and documentation changes as controlled releases. Record version, date, changed behavior, migration notes, validation status, and the agreement version that covers distribution.
Review access
Review GitHub identity, organization, purpose, authorized users, repository role, 2FA, agreement state, security events, and continuing need at the scheduled date. Reduce or remove access that is no longer required.
Measure useful outcomes
Useful adoption measures include time to first bounded hypothesis, repeated evidence requests avoided, unowned checkpoints, escalation acceptance, controlled-change completeness, return-to-service proof quality, and guide improvements submitted after incidents.
Avoid vanity adoption
Page views and guide counts do not prove operating value. Application records are not a public adopter directory. Public recognition requires separate permission and exact wording review.
